Unknown Cities
Oil 50 x 40 x 1.5 cm - Lucio Forte - Year painting: 2016
Notes on artwork:
Immaginary and Unknown Cities representing the highest levels of articulation and of complexity of human activity in his madness toward the premature and total destruction of the planet, an idea in science fiction (and hopefully not real), about the Global Earth conurbation.
Premature destruction compared of the natural death of the sun, which will make our planet uninhabitable anyway.
Beauty and harmony borned from the earth, in consonance with nature and in contrast to a strong push toward the artificial that is a dangerous trend of our era.
Historical trend that emerged from the time when the industrial revolution began to change rapidly and irreversibly a world that until that moment lived in a balanced ecosystem.
This ecosystem was formed in times so immense that's for our imagination hardly graspable, for our inability to abstracting our thinking from the contingency of the time in which we live.
A natural world in which we was always been a small piece integrant in balance.
Unknown Cities instead are extreme expressions of the conurbation of the planet, as well as the hope to realize always more complex technology until you get to build cities prepared to survive in Space, that will be necessary when we will destroy all the Earth, our ship in the universe.
